Chapter 22 – Awards Justly Deserved

Chapter 22 – Awards Justly Deserved

The Asheville Home Builder’s Association held their awards banquet on October 17 for the 2013 Parade of Homes.  I am so proud of Blue Ridge Energy Systems.  They won not one but two awards!!  They won the Innovative Home Award as well as a Silver Award for Craftsmanship.  I’m sure they would also have won the Green Certification Award if we had only been further along with our LEED certification process and photovoltaic installation.  No other home on the Parade was designed for net zero carbon emissions.

Parade of Homes was an excellent opportunity for almost 900 people to tour my home along with the many other fine homes being built in the Asheville area.  We as a community have a lot to celebrate because almost everyone now is finely tuned into the energy efficiency message that Blue Ridge Energy Systems has supported for over 30 years.  We are improving this planet one new home at a time!

I promised interior photographs and here they are.  I am an amateur with only an iPhone camera, so they simply don’t do it justice. The house will be professionally photographed and when that is done, you will find those images on the BRES website.  I’ll keep you posted but it will likely be spring, 2014 – we want to have the gardens in bloom!  I will post another blog in a few weeks with garden photographs.  It’s simply spectacular, thanks to Nancy Duffy and William Deaver!

I guess it’s fitting that this quote be from Marcia Wieder, founder and CEO of Dream University, a network of over 1,000 Dream Coaches dedicated to providing resources and support for anyone looking to turn their dreams into reality.  Marcia says:

“Every single day do something that makes your heart sing.”

I can promise you that building a home with the Blue Ridge Energy System team will make your heart sing for a lifetime.
